Kyla Cresswell, Marci Tackett and Danielle Creenaune at Solander Gallery, 218 Willis St, Wellington
28 October - 25 November
Three artists Kyla Cresswell, Danielle Creenaune and Marci Tackett join together in an exhibition of new works on paper.
In this body of work Kyla Cresswell invites us in to her uninhabited landscapes, where traces of nature’s self-determination are quietly present and everything is in balance. There are journeys within a landscape, within oneself. We see the impression of an environment, the feeling of a place. A slice of time.
“Once I thought the land I had loved and known
Lay curled in my inmost self; musing alone…”
Deep in the hills – Ruth Dallas (1953)
Born in 1974, Kyla Cresswell grew up in the south of New Zealand and studied printmaking at the Otago School of Art. Years spent overseas working and traveling saw her influenced by the aesthetics of Japan and inspired by the minimal wintery landscape of Europe and Canada.
